Seal Wire Company has threaded itself
into the fabric of North Carolina since it was founded nearly half a
century ago by Paul W. and Ruth D. Seal. The company has made its
home in the town of Shelby, North Carolina (less than 50 miles
southwest of Charlotte) since 1956.
Originally
located on Lafayette Street, Seal’s first factory was merely 10,000
square feet. It was staffed by only three people and housed just
one drawing machine. In those early days, the company’s sole
product was bare copper wire that sold for 26 cents per pound. As
the company moved steadily forward, it began to expand its product
line to include bare copper,
galvanized steel strand, and
aluminum.
Other things
changed through the years: Paul and Ruth’s daughter and son-in-law,
Susan and Johnny Haskell, bring a new generation to a family
business that has grown to encompass three locations, over 100,000
square feet of space and a staff of nearly three dozen.
Today, Seal Wire Company sells over
3 million pounds of wire per year and ships all over the world.
But
as much as some things have changed, one thing has remained a
constant at Seal Wire Company, for over 50 years – a dedication to
excellence. The philosophy of supplying a quality product at a
competitive price backed by a solid reputation has earned the “Seal
of Approval” from customers again and again.
